MEETING OF THE COORDINATION AND METHODOLOGICAL COUNCIL ON SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM 17 "FORMATION AND USE OF PLANT GENETIC RESOURCE BANK" (PLANT GENETIC RESOURCES)

The Yuriev Plant Production Institute of NAAS held an online meeting of the Coordination and Methodological Council on SP 17 “Formation and Use of Plant Genetic Resource Bank (Plant Genetic Resources)” on November 25, 2024. The heads and principle investigators of projects within SP 17 “Plant Genetic Resources” from 26 NAAS institutions were present; the total number of participants was 48. At the meeting, Sylenko Olena Serhiivna, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, Researcher of Ustymivka Experimental Station of Plant Production of the Yuriev Plant Production Institute of NAAS Ukraine gave a talk “Genetic Resources of Vegetable Crops.” The Head of SP 17 “Plant Genetic Resources” Viktor Kuzmoviyh Riabchun, Candidate of Biological Sciences, reported on the state of the National Plant GenBank of Ukraine and realization of projects within subprogram 01 "Genetic Resources of Agricultural Crops." The Head of subprogram 2 “Pomology” Larysa Stepanivna Yurik reported on the preservation and effective use of genetic resources of fruit, berry, nut and ornamental crops. Attention was focused on the introduction, isolation of sources of valuable traits and preservation of gene pool specimens. The findings will be published.
