EVENTS "YOUTH, PROTECT PLANTS - PROTECT THE PLANET!" DEDICATED TO THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PLANT HEALTH

On May 12, 2023, the Young Researcher Board of the Plant Production Institute named after V.Ya. Yuriev of NAAS organized and held the events "Youth, Protect plants - Protect the Planet!" dedicated to the International Day of Plant Health, which was declared by the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN). The International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) celebrated the Day under the slogan "Plant Health for the Environment Preservation".

Mykyta Yuriiovych Skorohhodov, Senior Researcher of the Laboratory of Introduction and Storage of Plant Genetic Resources, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, gave a biology lesson to the 10th graders of Kharkiv Gymnasium 163. The lesson covered the issues of plant and seed preservation in Ukraine and worldwide. An online excursion "Preservation of Genetic Diversity of Seeds" was held to the National Bank of Plant Genetic Resources of Ukraine; during the excursion, the importance of preserving collection specimens of plants and their role in ensuring the food security of mankind were considered.

The events aroused the keen interest of schoolchildren and contributed to raising their awareness of the harmonious existence of man and nature.
