SCIENTIFIC AND PRACTICAL SEMINAR WITHIN THE UKRAINIAN-GERMAN PROJECT "INNOBIODIV"
On December 18-19, 2023, Head of the laboratory, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences Maryna Viktorivna Kapustian and Leading Researcher, Candidate of Biological Sciences Zadarozhna Olha Anatoliivna participated in a scientific and practical seminar within "InnoBioDiv" Ukrainian-German project. The seminar was held in Cologne (Germany) and devoted to technical background for plant experiments and showed the role of education and studies on effects of climatic changes on plant performance and soil biodiversity. The University of Cologne and the Technical University of Cologne were the organizers of the project. The primary objectives of the project were to evaluate effects of climatic factors on plant growth and soil biodiversity, to define concepts of plant adaptation using state-of-art technologies, to conduct interdisciplinary 'biology-technology' research, to ensure students' participation in the development of concepts at initial stages of the project.
The purpose of the event was to present completed Ukrainian-German projects, to discuss new potential research and educational joint projects in Ukrainian academic circles; to encourage the participation of plant researchers and students, to develop a network with partners who strive to strengthen the Ukrainian science during and after the war.
German-Ukrainian joint projects in science and education were presented at the event. Achievements and challenges of previous Ukrainian-German collaborations were highlighted. The participants of the seminar reported on the status of education and scientific research in Ukraine during the war.
The seminar ended with a confirmation of commitment to expanding educational and research opportunities through the German-Ukrainian partnership. The shared spirit of cooperation and innovative ideas offered hold great prospects for the future of this academic alliance.
