International Round Table Dedicated to the Memory of Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova Andrei Palii

On May 6, 2026, the Green BioHub Laboratory at the Technical University of Moldova hosted the international round table "The Role of Genetics in Agriculture," dedicated to the memory of Andrei Palii, Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova.

The event brought together researchers, government officials, and agribusiness representatives from Moldova, Ukraine, and Romania. Key participants included:

Serhii Ponurenko and Nail Muzafarov (Yuriev Plant Production Institute of NAAS, Ukraine); Lizica Szilagyi (University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest, Romania); Grigore Baltag (Head of the Crop Production Policy Department, Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry of the Republic of Moldova); Academician Maria Duca (Director of the Center of Functional Genetics, Moldova State University); Representatives from the National Center for Research and Seed Production, the Institute of Genetics, Physiology and Plant Protection of Moldova State University, the National Institute for Applied Research in Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, the "Alexandru Ciubotaru" National Botanical Garden (Institute), alongside industry professionals. The program integrated discussions on modern biotechnological challenges with memorial tributes from Professor Palii's colleagues and former students. The event highlighted the strategic importance of plant breeding and genetics for the agricultural sector.
