INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC INTERNET CONFERENCE "OIL CROPS: TODAY AND PROSPECTS"

On March 27, 2024, Dmytro Kurylych, a junior researcher and post-graduate student of the Laboratory of Sunflower Breeding and Genetics, participated in the International Scientific Internet Conference "Oil Crops: Present and Prospects", which was held at the Institute of Oil Crops of NAAS. The participants of the Conference presented scientific results on biology, breeding, cultivation technology, and technological properties of seeds of such oil crops as sunflower, safflower, false flax, and castor. Dmytro Kurylych gave a talk "Donor Properties of New Self-Pollinated Broomrape (Orobanche cumana Wallr.)-Resistant Sunflower Lines", in which he highlighted the current spread of broomrape in Ukraine, research methods of this parasitic plant, and results of studies conducted at the Yuriev Plant production Institute of NAAS and aimed at creating a new breeding broomrap-resistant material that will have other valuable economic characteristics.
