Professional Development Courses for Researchers and Academic Personnel

From March 2 to March 6, 2026, the Yuriev Plant Production Institute of the NAAS held online professional development training courses for researchers and academic personnel in two key areas: "Methodological and Information Support for Breeding Research" and "Formation, Maintenance, and Effective Utilization of Plant Genetic Resources Collections."

In line with the course curriculum, lectures covered the theoretical and informational frameworks of the plant breeding process, as well as the collection and analysis of experimental breeding data. Participants were introduced to recent advancements in crop science, research into Ukraine's plant genetic resources, and strategies for utilizing the collections of Ukraine's genebank in breeding programs. The cources featured comprehensive lectures, interactive discussions, individual sessions, and technical consultations. Trainees were also provided with updates on the Institute's latest scientific publications and instructional manuals. The course curriculum was completed in full.

The training program was completed by researchers from NAAS research institutions, including:

Institute of Grain Crops; Institute of Oilseed Crops; Institute of Vegetable and Melon Growing; V.M. Remeslo Myronivka Institute of Wheat; Plant Breeding and Genetics Institute – National Center of Seed and Cultivar Investigation; Institute of Horticulture; Institute of Potato Research; M.V. Zubets Institute of Animal Breeding and Genetics; National Scientific Center "Institute of Agriculture of NAAS"; Ternopil State Agricultural Experiment Station, and others.

Faculty members and associate professors from universities under the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine also participated, representing:

National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine; Poltava State Agrarian University; Bila Tserkva National Agrarian University; State Biotechnology University; Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University; Polissia National University. The training concluded with a final evaluation and discussion session. Participants highlighted the high relevance of the topics covered, the exceptional scientific standard of the lectures and presentations, and praised the accessibility and smooth execution of the distance-learning format.
