ADVANCED TRAINING COURSE FOR SCIENTISTS AND EDUCATORS

From March 3 to March 7, 2025, the Yuriev Plant Production Institute of NAAS held an online advanced training course for scientists and educators in the following areas: “Methodological and Informational Support for Breeding Studies” and “Formation, Management, and Effective Use of Plant Genetic Resource Collections.”

According to the course program, lectures on theoretical and informational support of the breeding process, design of experiments and analysis of experimental data in breeding were given. The course participants were introduced to scientific achievements in plant breeding, findings on plant genetic resources of Ukraine, formation and use of collections of the GenBank of Ukraine in breeding, results of coordination and methodological work within NAAS SP 16 the NAAS "Sunflower" and NAAS SP 17 "Plant Genetic Resources." During the course, discussions were organized, individual lessons and consultations were held. The course participants were provided with information about the Institute’s new scientific publications and guidebooks. The course program was fulfilled.

The course was attended by scientists from NAAS institutions (State Institute of Grain Crops, Institute of Vegetable and Melon Growing, V.M. Remeslo Myronivka Wheat Institute, Plant Breeding and Genetic Institute - National Center of Seed and Cultivar Investigations, Institute of Potato Growing, Institute of Animal Breeding and Genetics named after M.V. Zubets, NSC Institute of Agriculture and others) as well as by teachers and associate professors of three universities of the Ministry of Education and Science (National University of Life Resources and Environmental Sciences, Poltava State Agrarian University, Separate structural subdivision "Housing and Communal Services College of O.M. Beketov. National University of Urban Economy). Upon completion, the outcomes of the advanced training course were discussed and summarized. The course participants noted the relevance of the course topics, high scientific level of lectures and presentations. Regarding the organization of the course, the availability of distance learning was emphasized.
