COORDINATION AND METHODOLOGICAL COUNCIL ON RESEARCH PROGRAM 17 "PLANT GENETIC RESOURCES"

On November 17, 2021, an online meeting of the Coordination and Methodological Council (CMC) on research program 17 "Plant Genetic Resources" (main institution – Plant Production Institute named after V.Ya. Yuriev of NAAS) was held. Supervisors and responsible executors of research program 17 projects from 30 research institutions of NAAS were present, with the total number of participants of 43. The meeting was opened by NAAS Corresponding Member, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Director of the Plant Production Institute named after V.Ya. Yuriev of NAAS Liubov Nykyforivna Kobyzeva with a welcoming speech. The results of research program 17 "Plant Genetic Resources" were reported by the Head of the program, CMC Chairman, Candidate of Biological Sciences Victor Kuzmovych Riabchun. At the meeting, scientific talk "Acquirement of Accessions of the Gene Pool of Domestic Plants and Their Wild Relatives through Missions" (speaker Victor Mykhailovych Kirian, Deputy Director for Research of Ustymivska Experimental Station of Plant Production of PPI nd a VYa Yuriev NAAS) was given. The curators of collections analyzed the activities of institutions-co-executors performing research program 17 projects.

The participants of the meeting discussed, clarified and approved the interim reports for 2021 under subprogram 1 "Genetic Resources of Agricultural Crops" (a total of 34 reports, including 26 reports of fundamental studies and 8 reports of applied studies) and subprogramme 2 "Expansion and Preservation of the Genetic Diversity of Fruit, Small-Fruit, Nut and Ornamental Crops (Pomology)" (a total of 9 reports, including 5 reports of fundamental studies and 4 reports of applied studies.
