COORDINATION AND METHODOLOGICAL COUNCIL ON RESEARCH PROGRAM 16 "SUNFLOWER"

On November 16, 2021, an online meeting of the Coordination and Methodological Council (CMC) on research program 17 "Sunflower" (the main institution - Plant Production Institute named after V.Ya. Yuriev of NAAS) was held. Supervisors and responsible executors of research program 16 projects from 7 research institutions of NAAS were present, with the total number of participants of 16. The meeting was opened by the CMC Chairman, NAAS Academician, Doctor of Agriculture Sciences, Professor Victor Kyrychenko. The following scientific talks were given at the meeting: "Main Factors of High Sunflower Yield" (speaker V.V. Kyrychenko), "Breeding Support of Ecologically Safe Sunflower Yield: Status and Prospects" (speaker V.I. Trotsenko, Senior Researcher of the Laboratory of Breeding and Seed Production of the Institute of Agriculture of the Northeast of NAAS, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor).

The participants of the meeting discussed, clarified and approved the interim reports for 2021 – a total of 16, including 3 reports of fundamental studies, 11 reports of applied studies, and 2 reports of short-term applied studies. A proposal was made to direct research in accordance with the European Green Course, i.e. course to reduce the impact of agriculture on the environment and to initiate the development of smart farming. The results of trials of joint sunflower hybrids derived from genetic plasms of different origin, mainstreams to provide methodological support for research, and need to strengthen publishing activities were discussed.
