2nd SECOND INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE "STRESS AND ADAPTATION OF PLANTS"

On June 7-8, 2023, the Plant Production Institute named after V.Ya. Yuriev of NAAS held the 2nd International Conference "Stress and Adaptation of Plants" dedicated to the 125th anniversary of Professor F.P. Matskov’s birthday. The Conference was organized by the Plant Production Institute named after V.Ya. Yuriev and the Institute of Food Biotechnology and Genomics as part of the 2023-2025 Program of Joint Activities of the NAS of Ukraine and NAAS of Ukraine. The co-organizers of the Conference were the All-Ukrainian Association of Plant Biologists, the Ukrainian Society of Plant Physiologists and the M.I. Vavilov Ukrainian Society of Geneticists and Breeders. The Conference participants presented their results and discussed world trends in studies of cellular mechanisms of plant resistance, hormonal and signaling regulation of plant resistance, development of breeding-genetic and genetic engineering approaches to increase plant resistance to stressors. Scientists from 11 countries were involved in the Conference. Twenty-three presentations from Ukraine, Israel, Poland, Germany and Moldova were listened to at the video conference during two days. There were over 10 posters on the interactive platform: https://padlet.com/nik20109442/scientific_conference_2023_yuriev

98 abstracts were published as an on-line collection (https://yuriev.com.ua/assets/files/konferencii/plants_stress_adaptation_book.pdf). The Conference participants decided to coordinate efforts between the institutions of NAS of Ukraine and NAAS of Ukraine, as well as with the scientific community as a whole to overcome challenges associated with climatic changes, anthropogenic pressure on the environment, including those caused by the Russian aggression against Ukraine, and to actively participate in solving food security problems. It was also decided to hold the International Scientific Conference "Stress and Adaptation of Plants" in Ukraine on regular basis, at least once every three years, actively involving the All-Ukrainian Association of Plant Biologists in its organization.
