FIELD DAY "ENGAGEMENT OF DOMESTIC INNOVATIVE RESOURCE OF SPIKED CEREAL CULTIVARS USING STATE-OF-THE-ART METHODS OF DIAGNOSTICS WITHIN THE EUROPEAN GREEN DEAL"

On June 20, 2024, Acting Director of the Institute, Leonov Oleh Yuriiovych, participated in the Field Day "ENGAGEMENT OF DOMESTIC INNOVATIVE RESOURCE OF SPIKED CEREAL CULTIVARS USING STATE-OF-THE-ART METHODS OF DIAGNOSTICS WITHIN THE EUROPEAN GREEN DEAL", which was held at the Exhibition and Innovation Center of NAAS (SE "Experimental Farm Salivonkivske" of the Institute of Bioenergy Crops and Sugar Beet of NAAS of Ukraine).

At the Field Day, where there were over 130 visitors, representatives of NAAS institutions (Plant Breeding and Genetics Institute, Institute of Climate-Smart Agriculture, Myronivka Institute of Wheat, SI "Institute of Grain Crops", Institute of Agriculture, Institute of Fodder and Agriculture of Podillia, Institute of Potato Research) inspected the demonstration fields with innovations in winter and spring cereal breeding. Cultivars of potatoes, sweet potatoes, Jerusalem artichokes, and yacon were also presented at the event. The event was attended by representatives of different farms, who appreciated the demonstration fields and made notes for seed purchases in the future.

Leonov O.Yu. presented the latest cultivars bred at the Yuriev Plant Production Institute of NAAS (YPPI NAAS), viz. cultivars of winter wheat, winter rye, winter triticale, spring wheat, spring triticale, and spring barley. The cereal cultivars bred by YPPI NAAS are competitive breeding developments, which is confirmed by the results of their testing in different ecological zones of Ukraine. They are intensive or semi-intensive, have high productivity and quality potentials, and are tolerant to unfavorable biotic and abiotic environmental factors.

The participation of breeders in the Field Day allowed them to evaluate their achievements in comparison with other research programs, meet with colleagues, and lively communicate with scientists and producers. The event was filled with innovative solutions in breeding, interesting collections of cultivars and hybrids, meaningful scientific reports, exchange of ideas and observations.

We thank the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the opportunity to work in Ukraine and for preserving our agricultural potential. Together we will win!
