FIELD DAY "PROSPECTS OF INTEGRATED USE OF VARIETAL RESOURCES OF SPIKED CEREALS, POTATOES AND MEDICINAL PLANTS"

On June 27, the Acting Director of the Institute, Leonov Oleh Yuriiovych, participated in the Field Day "Prospects of Integrated Use of Varietal Resources Spiked Cereals, Potatoes and Medicinal Plants", which was held at the NAAS Exhibition and Innovation Center (State Enterprise Experimental Farm "Salyvonkivske" of IBC&SB).

At the Field Day, which was attended by about 200 people, demonstration fields sown with breeding innovations of winter and spring cereals, potatoes and medicinal plants were inspected by representatives of NAAS institutions (Plant Breeding and Genetics Institute, Institute of Climate-Smart Agriculture, Myronivka Institute of Wheat, State Institution “Institute of Grain Crops”, Institute of Agriculture, Institute of Fodder and Agriculture of Podillia, Institute of Potato Growing). Leonov O.Yu. presented about 30 of new varieties bred at the Plant Production Institute (PPI) named after V.Ya. Yuriev of NAAS, including winter wheat, rye and triticale varieties as well as spring wheat, triticale and barley varieties. The cereal varieties bred PPI NAAS are competitive breeding developments, which is confirmed by results of their trials in different ecological zones of Ukraine. They are intensive or semi-intensive, have high productivity and quality potentials, and are resistant to adverse biotic and abiotic factors of the environment.

The event was filled with innovative solutions in breeding, interesting collections of varieties and hybrids, meaningful scientific reports, exchange of ideas and observations.
