FIELD DAY "PLANT PRODUCTION INNOVATIONS OF NAAS BREEDING INSTITUTIONS"

On June 26, 2025, the Acting Director of the Institute, Oleh Yuriiovych Leonov, took part in the Field Day "Plant Production Innovations of NAAS Breeding Institutions", which was held at the Exhibition and Innovation Center of NAAS (State Enterprise "Experimental Farm Salyvonkivske" of the Institute of Bioenergy Crops and Sugar Beet).

At the Field Day, demonstration fields were monitored, with presentation of breeding developments in winter and spring cereals by NAAS institutions (Plant Breeding and Genetic Institute, Yuriev Plant Production Institute, State Institution “Institute of Grain Crops”, Institute of Bioenergy Crops and Sugar Beet, Institute of Climate-Smart Agriculture, Myronivka Institute of Wheat, Institute of Agriculture, Institute of Potato Growing). At the event, cultivars of medicinal plants, potatoes, sweet potatoes, and Jerusalem artichokes as well as hybrids of sugar and fodder beets were also presented.

Leonov O.Yu. presented novel cultivars bred by the Yuriev Plant Production Institute (YPPI) of NAAS, including winter wheat, rye and triticale cultivars as well as spring wheat, triticale and barley cultivars. The YPPI’s cereal cultivars are competitive, which is confirmed by results of their trials in different ecological zones of Ukraine. The cultivars are intensive or semi-intensive, boast high potentials for productivity and quality, and are resistant to adverse biotic and abiotic environmental factors.

The participation of breeders in the Field Day allowed them to evaluate their own developments in comparison with other research programs, meet with colleagues, and lively communication with scientists and producers. The event was filled with meaningful scientific talks and observations.
