Field Day 2026: Small Grain Cereals – Cultivars, Hybrids, Technologies

On June 18, 2026, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences Oleh Leonov, Head of the Laboratory of Wheat Breeding at the Yuriev Plant Production Institute of NAAS, took part in Field Day 2026 "Small Grain Cereals: Cultivars, Hybrids, Technologies," held at the demonstration trial grounds of the State Institution "Institute of Grain Crops of NAAS."

The event brought together representatives of the regional military administration, directors and researchers from NAAS scientific facilities, and representatives of commercial agricultural companies.

Welcome addresses were delivered by Oleksandr Hanzha, Head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration; Metropolitan Symeon of Dnipro and Sicheslav; and Vladyslav Cherchel, Acting Director of the Institute of Grain Crops.

Keynote presentations were delivered by researchers Mykola Solodushko and Iryna Hasanova, who highlighted critical issues regarding early cereal harvesting and grain quality formation.

During the practical field session, representatives from various plant breeding centers demonstrated their latest advancements in wheat, barley, and oat. Dr. Oleh Leonov presented the newest cereal cultivars bred by the Yuriev Plant Production Institute of NAAS.

Participants had the opportunity to network, share insights, and exchange practical experience with leading industry specialists, researchers, and plant breeders.
