Institute's Activities in Wartime
The 115-year history of the Plant Production Institute named after V.Ya. Yuriev of NAAS proves its status as a leading domestic plant production research institution, whose achievements have been recognized both in the country and globally.
Unfortunately, 2022 has become the most catastrophic year for the Institute as well as for our entire country. The military aggression by the Russian Federation has brought battling and shelling to the Kharkivska Oblast; as a result, facilities and equipments have been greatly damaged. The buildings of the Institute’s Breeding Complex have been destroyed or damaged; laboratory devices, agricultural machinery and seeds have been burnt. Active hostilities and contamination of fields with unexploded ordnance made field works with spring crops to be harvested in 2022 impossible, so the Institute could not raise funds to support its activities. Today, the Institute is functioning under extremely difficult conditions; the Institute’s staff is making incredible efforts to conduct studies and implement innovations. Researchers have fixed some agricultural machines by themselves, arranged breeding plots and designed field experiments lest valuable seed materials, which had been created over decades, be lost for ever. Employees, being paid considerably less than they used to be, are working under extreme conditions, in unsuitable premises, which were urgently conserved, because the laboratory buildings of the Breeding Complex need restoration and are unfit for use. At the same time, the lack of financial resources threatens the harvest of experimental and seed crops of cereals, grain legumes and oilseeds.
The Institute has to ask for help lest the Institute’s scientists’ several generation-work and domestic innovations, which are national products and achievements of the Ukrainian agrarian science, be lost.
The Plant Production Institute named after V.Ya. Yuriev of NAAS needs financial support to restore its facilities and equipments and ensure scientific activities and calls on international and domestic partners, public organizations, business representatives and citizens to help in this difficult period. допомогу.

Шановні друзі та колеги!
Висловлюємо вам вдячність за надану благодійну допомогу, яка дозволила в найскрутніші для інституту часи підтримати наукову діяльність і вжити деякі заходи для відновлення та збереження матеріально-технічної бази. Отримані кошти було витрачено на терміновий ремонт пошкоджених лабораторних і складських приміщень, паливо для транспортних засобів інституту, а також тару для насіннєвого матеріалу (звіт).
Отримані як благодійна допомога сучасні молотилки для зернових культур стали незамінним обладнанням для наукової діяльності інституту, а засоби хімічного захисту рослин і добрива дозволили провести досліди і отримати достовірні дані в дослідженнях з генетичних ресурсів рослин, селекції, насінництва, рослинництва.
Безумовно, колектив інституту прикладає значні зусилля для налагодження роботи, але ж ситуація воєнного стану створює для цього суттєві перешкоди. Нажаль, всі джерела фінансування поки не дозволяють провести відновлення пошкодженого лабораторного корпусу, зокрема даху і вікон, що вкрай необхідно для забезпечення умов для роботи співробітників.
Тому ми будемо дуже вдячні за будь-які пропозиції з благодійної допомоги на відновлення матеріально-технічної бази інституту. Разом ми подолаємо будь які проблеми. Дякуємо вам за підтримку науки!
