FIELD DAY 2024 "BREEDING AND TECHNOLOGICAL ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE YURIEV PLANT PRODUCTION INSTITUTE OF NAAS"
Dear farmers, colleagues, friends!
In 2024, the Yuriev Plant Production Institute of NAAS is turning 116 years. Throughout this long period, the Institute remains one of the leading scientific agrarian Ukrainian institutions and its are recognized at the domestic and international level.
The Institute conducts research on 15 different field crops with a full cycle from developing the theoretical foundations of breeding and creating starting materials to developing and implementing highly efficient seed production algorithms and cultivation technologies. Per the requirements of current agribusiness, our cultivars and hybrids show increased resistance to stressors, especially to low temperatures and drought. In addition, our innovations also have increased resistance to major diseases and pests. Due to these features, pesticide application can be avoided or reduced, which, in compliance with the European Green Course, contributes to the environment preservation and green production. Taking into account the food security both in Ukraine and all over the world, we create high-yielding cultivars and hybrids with increased product quality, ensuring the economic availability of food products for all population layers.
As of 2024, over 220 cultivars and hybrids bred at the Institute are in the State Register of Plant Varieties Suitable for Dissemination in Ukraine. Most of them are already well-known among farmers due to their adaptability to climatic changes, high productivity, and quality (see Catalog).
On the Field Day 2024 (online), we offer to get acquainted with the new cultivars of winter and spring cereals and grain legumes bred by the Institute: winter wheat, winter triticale, winter rye, spring pasta wheat, spring barley, spring triticale and pea, which are presented by leading breeders at the demonstration and research fields (DETAILS).
